SH 199 Construction
SH 199 Construction Begins on Monday, March 6th. Motorists should expect delays during the traffic switch.
Construction will begin next week on SH 199 between Western Center Boulevard and Nine Mile Bridge Road. To accommodate the construction of the new main lanes and bridges in the center of SH 199, traffic will be shifted to the frontage roads next week, weather permitting. Motorists should expect overnight lane closures in both directions of SH 199 on Monday (3/6) and Tuesday (3/7) nights from 7 pm to 6 am. Daily lane closures will also be needed on Tuesday (3/7) and Wednesday (3/8) from 9 am to 3 pm to complete pavement striping and installation of concrete traffic barriers along the frontage roads.
The SH 199 project will add six freeway lanes (three in each direction), ramps and four bridges at Western Center Boulevard, Hanger Cut-Off, Nine Mile Bridge Road and over Cottonwood Creek. This $46.3 million project will complete the 5-mile section of main lanes on SH 199. This project is part of a $1.3 billion effort known as Texas Clear Lanes, initiated by Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Legislature to improve mobility. The project was awarded to Flatiron Constructors, Inc., and it is scheduled for completion in 2019.
